Rourkela: A youth was arrested by the Cyber Crime Police in Rourkela on Wednesday for allegedly sending nude pictures to a girl on WhatsApp and compelling her to chat with him on video call.
The accused, identified as Tipu Sultan, (23) from Nawagarh village under Latehar police limits in Jharkhand was allegedly sending morphed pictures of the victim, who hail from Biramitrapur in the district, the police said.
Acting on a complaint filed by the victim with the Rourkela Cyber Crime Police Station on September 11, a case under Sections 354 (D), 465, 469, 500 of the IPC, 66 (C), 66 and 67 of IT Act was registered and a team was formed to nab the accuse.
The police team comprising of Rourkela Cyber Crime Police Station inspector-in-charge Serofina Xess, sub-inspector (SI) Bulu Swain and assistant SI Suri Narayan Patra apprehended Sultan from his village in the neighbouring state.
When asked, Investigating Officer SI Bulu Swain said that the accused has been forwarded to the court of Sub Division Judicial Magistrate (SDJM), Panposh.
Notably, this is the third cyber case detected by the Rourkela Cyber Police so far.
