Boudh: The Additional district sessions court here on Thursday sentenced a youth to 10 years of imprisonment for raping a minor girl on January 2014.
According to sources, the convict Iswar Nag along with his another associate Kulamani Gahir of Khamanmunda village under Kantamala police limits abducted a minor girl of the same village. They took the minor girl to the forest and raped her.
Following the incident, the victim had lodged a complaint against the accused persons on January 27.
On basis of the complaint, police arrested Iswar and Kulamani. A case was registered under relevant Sections of IPC and the accused were forwarded to the court.
Special judge Gourimali Maharana found Iswar guilty after studying 11 evidences on behalf of government and 2 witnesses on behalf of accused persons.
The lower court sentenced Iswar of 10 years in prison and also imposed a fine of Rs 10 thousand. However, another accused Kulamani, was acquitted by the court due to lack of evidences against him.
