Lucknow: Ending all speculation, the BJP has picked six-time Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath (44) as the next chief minister of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.

The decision was taken after a meeting at Lok Bhawan that saw central observers – Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and national general secretary Bhupendra Yadav, BJP vice-president Om Mathur, and state party chief Keshav Prasad Maurya and other senior party leaders in full attendance.

The swearing-in of the next Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh will be held in Lucknow on Sunday.

The frontrunners for the post included senior leaders like Home Minister Rajnath Singh, state party chief Keshav Prasad Maurya and telecom minister Manoj Sinha.
