Bhubaneswar: The Women and Child Welfare Department of Odisha government celebrated Women’s Day at a state level function on Wednesday at Jayadev Bhawan. Also, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched Mahila Helpline 181 on the occasion.
The Helpline launched will provide assistance and emergency support to women 24×7 , said the department sources. It will also provide counselling and also information about various schemes and programmes of the government for women at the residence or office of women.
The CM felicitated women achievers Manjulata Panda who is the first viusally challenged woman of Odisha to get a PhD; sportswomen Jhili Dalabehera and Jabamani Tudu. He also lauded women for taking Odisha ahead with their contributions in major fields. Patnaik also said mothers in the state need to come forward to make schemes for women and children successful.
