Women bikers raise voice for justice for girl child
Bhubaneswar: Five women dressed in traditional Odissi costumes set out on their macho machines to spread the message on woman safety and security in the wake of rising crimes against girl child.
Odisha Bikerni, the women bikers association of Odisha, dressed as Goddess Lakshmi took out the rally to raise their voice against sexual abuse against girl children.
They sought to bring home the point that the common women–the mother, the wife, the sister, and the sister/daughter in law, even a female friend or colleague – are pure gold or the real Lakshmi and hence, they need to be loved, respected and treasured. A 6- year- old child was included in the team to show the brutality towards girl child in society.
Members who took part included Amita Singh, Priyanka Ghosal, Deeparani Mahakud, Barsha Mallick, Sangeeta Sahoo and Shivanshi Sahoo (kid).
The rally started from the Shikharchandi-KIIT Square and went through Vanivihar Sqare, Shaeed Nagar, Master Canteen, AG Square, Governor House and Jaydev Vihar.
