Rourkela: A woman and her two children sustained critical injuries after a bus hit them near Bandhamunda square in Rourkela on Friday.
The injured have been identified as Puja Kumari and her two sons-Aryan (7) and Anurag (5).
They have been admitted in ICU of Ispat General Hospital (IGH) in Rourkela and their condition is stated to be critical.
According to sources, the incident occurred at around 8 am when the victims were waiting for school bus. Meanwhile, a speeding bus hit the woman and the two children at Bandhamunda square injuring them critically.
Later, the irate locals staged a road blockade by burning the tyres and vandalised the bus following which vehicular movement between Bandhamunda and Rourkela came to a grinding halt.
On being informed, DSP Pradyumna Mishra along with a police team and Tehsildar Biswaranjan Rath reached the spot and took stock of the situation.
Later, the agitating locals allowed movement of vehicles after Tehsildar Rath assured that the entire expenditure for the treatment of the injured will be borne by the district administration.
