Bhubaneswar: Even as Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has always kept his birthday celebration a low-key affair in his last two decades of political life, senior leaders of BJD and other activists of the party celebrated his 71st birthday with orphan children at Naveen Nivas here today.
Meanwhile, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also took to the Twitter to wish the CM on his birthday. “Warm birthday greetings to Chief Minister of Odisha [email protected]_Odisha Babu. May god bless him with good health and long life”, Pradhan wrote.
Naveen will inaugurate a blood donation camp being organised by the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD), BJD’s student’s wing, at the BJD headquarters here, a party statement said. At many places, the BJD leaders have planned to hold voluntary blood donation camps on Monday. Similarly, the state government has put up giant hoardings of Naveen, praising him as an abled administrator across Bhubaneswar. “Katha nuhe, Kathina Parishrma (No talking; it’s hard work)” read the headline of the hoardings.
Rajya Sabha member and BJD spokesperson Prasanna Acharya said it’s Naveen’s believe in “simple living and high thinking” that he avoids extravagant celebrations. “However, people of Odisha love him so much that the occasion automatically becomes festive across the state. Good wishes pour in for him spontaneously,” he said.
Naveen has a history of not celebrating his birthday. The biggest scale of his celebration is visitors coming to his residence or office to wish him with flower bouquets.
