Hyderabad: Indian skipper Virat Kohli broke yet another record by becoming the highest run-getter captain from Asia on the second day of the ongoing test match between India and West Indies in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Kohli cruised past former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq who had scored 4214 runs in 56 matches at an average of 51.39. Misbah had 8 centuries to his name as the skipper of his side.
Kohli has scored 4233 runs and has walked past Misbah at an average of 65.12 in 42 matches so far. He has notched up 17 centuries in this phase. Kohli’s average (65.12) is also best in the world when compared with all other prolific batsmen.
The most runs scored by a captain is 8659 and former South African captain Graeme Smith holds the record. He took 109 matches and scored all his runs with an average of 47.84 and posted 25 centuries in the process.
Virat also became the fastest Indian to score 25 Test centuries and second fastest overall.
