Bhubaneswar: Condemning the murderous attack on Odisha Labour Minister Susant Singh’s brother and three other persons last night hours after the campaign for the Bijepur Assembly by-election concluded on Thursday in Bargarh district Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said that violence has no place in a democracy.
“Violence has no place in a democracy. People of Odisha are peace loving. I strongly condemn the cowardly act that took place yesterday,” Naveen said to media personnel reacting over the attack in the by-poll bound district.
According to reports, unidentified miscreants intercepted the four-wheeler of Susant’s brother Subrat Singh and allegedly attacked him along with other three occupants of the vehicle. They fled the spot son after the attack. It has also been alleged that the gang of miscreants fired at their vehicle and damaged it completely; however, no one was hit.
The injured were immediately rushed to Sohela Hospital and later shifted to Burla Hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
While two of them have suffered minor injuries and are stable, condition of other two is still stated to be critical.
Following the attack police announced that all candidates of Bijepur will get PSO for security.
On the other hand, police have managed to arrest three persons in this connection.
