Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Friday granted interim bail to Tapan Saha, the main accused in 2011 abduction case of the then Malkangiri collector Vineel Krishna thus allowing a big relief to life imprisonment convicted.
Earlier on May 24 this year, Additional Sessions Judge of Malkangiri sentenced Saha to life imprisonment. The court found Saha a village level government worker, Marri Kussi a Maoist tribal woman guilty of conspiring and kidnapping the collector when the latter along with a junior engineer were nailed by a group of red ultras while returning from a review interaction on developmental works in Gumma block of district.
Saha a major part in the left wing group demanded repeal of central security personnel from the tribal far cut off areas.
The accused were nabbed from Chitrakonda area of the district during a joint operation by SOG and DVF jawans.
