Vijay Hazare Trophy: Odisha falter again

New Delhi: Placed in the last spot in Group A of the Vijay Hazare Trophy Interstate One-day tournament Odisha went down to Railways today by six wickets in a match played at Airforce complex ground, Palam in New Delhi. This is Odisha’s fourth loss in five matches and they have one match remaining against Punjab on Monday.
Asked to bat first the eastern state could make 228 for 8 in 50 overs. Opener Sandeep Patnaik scored 85 while other opener Anurag Sarangi, allrounder Biplab Samantray and Arabind Singh could contribute 32, 33 and 26 runs respectively. For railways Amit Mishra, Karn Sharma, Ashis yadav and A Mishra took 2 wickets each.
In reply Assadulah Kahn got out in first over when team score was zero, but Shivkant Shukla, Ashish Yadav scored 30 and 45 to build a partnership. Arindam Ghosh also made 45, but wicketkeeper Mahesh Rawat remained not out on 88 to take the team past the target. Railways scored 231 for 4 in 49 overs. Govinda Poddar took 2 wickets for Odisha.
