VC of BPUT orders probe into allegations against head of finance department


Rourkela: Vice Chancellor (VC) of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) today orders a team to probe into the allegations over the Chief of finance department of the varsity.

A fact finding team led by Prof TK Patra and Prof SR Mohapatra will begin the investigation and would provide its probe report to the VC shortly.

The Financial head of the varsity has been alleged of showing disrespectful behavior towards the varsity’s administration by complaining against their students before a police station without seeking the consent of higher authorities.

The team has strict orders of the VC to verify financial matters while investigating for the alleged financial irregularities and bribery.

Notably, the alleged financial chief of the varsity was posted under 3-year deputation period but he is still occupying the same post for 6 years.

Earlier, on March 21, in his letter to Finance Minister Pradip Kumar Amat, Rocky Das of BPUT Students Union had alleged regarding the bribery and had requested to initiate probe into the matter of financial irregularities. After the incident went viral on social media, the financial head lodged a complaint at Chhend Police station.

According to sources, VC has directed the fact finding team to submit its probe report as soon as possible following which stringent action will be taken against the person if the allegations were found true.
