Bhubaneswar: Five passengers from Odisha who were injured in the Utkal Express derailment near Khatauli in Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh on August 19, arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here today.
A 5-member team headed by Odisha Commerce and Transport Minister Nrusingha Charan Sahoo which had gone to take stock of the situation at the accident site, today brought in the injured people of the state.
The injured passengers have been identified as Amar Das, Debendra Das, Jatri Das and Madhu Mandal from Banapur and one Sabita Mallick from Balasore.
Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the dead and Rs 50 each thousand for injured passengers undergoing treatment at any hospital.
In the tragic mishap at least 22 passengers died and over 150 sustained injuries after 14 coaches of the Puri-Haridwar Kalinga Utkal Express derailed.
