Bhubaneswar: Central Power Minister, Piyush Goyal has appreciated the Energy department of Odisha for implementing the “URJA MITRA” initiative in Odisha first among the other states in the Nation.
Goyal has congratulated through a special appreciation letter to the Secretary of Energy Department, Odisha, Hemant Sharma for his special effort in facilitating the successful implementation of “URJA MITRA” and taking a lead in the country for introducing the same first in the country.
With commendable efforts put by Sharma and his team of four DISCOMs in Odisha, “URJA MITRA” is being introduced in Odisha for enabling the consumers getting alert of the power outage system of their locality. “URJA MITRA” is an android based Application developed by REC under the guidance of Ministry of Power, GoI under its Digital India initiative.
A consumer need to register with his consumer number which will enable him in getting the scheduled and the ongoing power outage information through SMS/E-Mail and push notifications.
Power Consumers can also inform about power outage in their area through this mobile app. Sharma being also the CMD of OPTCL, a transmission utility of Odisha earlier has received the Golden Shield Award from Ministry of Power, Govt. of India twice for highest Transmission System Availability
