Bhubaneswar: Union health minister JP Nadda reached Bhubaneswar today alongwith Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan to meet victims of the SUM fire tragedy. The health minister has assured complete assistance for victims.
Nadda and Pradhan first visited AIIMS hospital and met the victims under treatment there. They then met victims at Capital Hospital, AMRI and KIMS and also went to SUM Hospital to see the fire affected portion.
The health minister said that the situation is “saddening, shocking, painful and also worrisome” and that the state government needs to take adequate steps and necessary action for “faith of people” to be restored. He added that there are also protocols and since the state government has already ordered probe into the matter he will not blame anyone but is here to meet the victims and see what assistance can be provided immediately.
Pradhan said that Prime Minister Modi has sent them to take a stock of the situation. He also condemned the laxity in fire safety in the hospital.
