Cuttack: The Millenium City will soon get its power supply from underground cables, work for which will begin soon. The Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) central Range, AB Ota today proposed that the underground cabling work should complete by 2018.
“The city is facing challenges in power supply due to various hindrances. In order to provide uninterrupted power to the residents of the city, laying underground power cables will be very useful,” said RDC Ota.
The underground cabling work will begin in January and the project would be completed in 2018, he informed.
In the first phase, the city will be divided into five zones and upto 61 km will be covered while the next phases will cover the rest. The budget for the cabling has been estimated at Rs 144 crores.
Ota reviewed the execution work with all line department and Chairperson of OPTCL, Hemant Sharma was also present. The tender process for the cabling will begin soon.
