Bhubaneswar: Guards of Chandaka-Dampada forest division arrested two poachers on Saturday late night during a raid.
Earlier, the forest department had tip off about animal hunting in the restricted area and therefore, kept a sharp eye over every movement in the jungle.
After a long hide and seek, the two hunters were caught and officials seized one rifle, live bullets, 3 knives and one torch.
The accused duo, identified as Baiya Behera and Gangadhar Das, residents of Kuamada village under Banki police station were alleged of having link with a racket dealing with illegal trade of meat and leather.
They have admitted of supplying meat and leather to the gang in exchange of weapons.
The forest department has been taking measures for keeping the hunting practice away and this raid resulted with a successful outcome.
