Two held for vandalising contractor’s car in city
Bhubaneswar: Khandagiri police here on Sunday arrested two persons for allegedly vandalising a contractor’s car and attempting to abduct him near ITER College square in Khandagiri last night.
The arrested duo has been identified as Soumya Ranjan Behera of Sisupalgarh and Pratik Panigrahi of Mancheswar. The contractor has been identified as Rajesh Patra, a resident of Dumuduma.
According to reports, a group of nearly 20 youths waylaid Patra near ITER College square; vandalised his car and also tried to abduct him.
Meanwhile, Behera called up the Khandagiri police, who reached the spot and seized the two cars and a number of arms and weapons from the scene. Though the cops managed to nab two youths, other involved in the attack managed to flee the spot.
As per preliminary investigation, Rajesh Patra, a local contractor along with his friends was having a booze party near Bandhamunda last night where the arrested duo along with some others was also getting drunk.
However, a quarrel ensued between both the groups over some issue and Patra with his friends allegedly beat up the other group, which was less in number at that time, and left the place.
But the matter did not end there as the assaulted youths regrouped with others and started following Rajesh. The fumed youths then intercepted his car and vandalised it, sources said.
