Bhubaneswar: The laxity of the Vanivihar authorities in restricting non-students from entering the university campus has led to several group-clashes in the past. Student Union President Tanmay Swain has appealed the authorities to take up stringent action , ensuring that the academic activities of the university is not jeopardised. Following tensions within the campus , the university authorities on Thursday postponed the semester examination indefinitely. However, the students appealed the authorities to conduct the exams before December 31. The vacillated university authorities finally bowed down to students anger and gave their nod to commence the exams from 16th, this month.
The scuffle between students and non-students have been on the rise for some time. While each time the university officials assure the students of putting security apparatus in place, the promises end up being only on the paper. They have yet not been able to put an end to the entry of non-students in the campus. Infact, the lecturers and professors have pointed fingers on the authorities of alleged sloppiness in cracking down anti-social elements sprouting up within the campus. With such incidents on the rise, the students boarding in hostels find it difficult to concentrate on their academics.
Meanwhile, students have scathed the university authorities for anonymously deciding to postpone the exams , without putting an end to such altercations. After the authorities assured of commencing the exams soon, the protesting students retreated from the vice chancellor’s office.
