Sundergarh: In yet another case of animal-human conflict, a man was trampled to death by a tusker at Kacharu village in Kuarmunda block of Sundergarh district this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Ranka Oram (48), former sarpanch of Kacharu panchayat.
According to reports, a herd of wild elephants had entered into Harpali village following which villagers had launched a drive to disperse the animals. The tusker attacked Oram while he was trying to disperse the herd along with other villagers.
The pachyderm trampled Oram killing him on the spot. Forest Department officials reached the spot being informed about the incident and seized the body for post-mortem.
