Bhubaneswar: The mortal remains of Captain Subhendu Kumar Mishra (aged 23 years) arrived here at the Biju Pattnaik International Airport on Monday evening. He was among the dead in the tragic Indore-Patna Express train accident occurred at Pukhrayan in Kanpur on Sunday morning.
Hailing from Sarankul of Nayagarh district, Subhendu’s parents livedi at Acharya Vihar in the capital city. His father Himanshu Sekhar Mishra, serving as Senior General Manager at Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL), Angul said that his son’s only ambition was to perform the toughest job. His mother Binati Mishra said that he had a great passion to serve for the Indian Army.
His Uncle, Sisir Kumar Mohapatra said that he had a wish to donate his organs after death but the delay in Railway officials in rescuing his body could not make it possible. Mohapatra said that after being injured during the training session at Army Academy in Indore, he was travelling in the train to Lucknow for treatment of his dislocated shoulder at Command Hospital.
After completion of study at Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) in Dehradun, he passed the National Defence Academy (NDA) examinations in 2014.At present, he was serving as the captain of 23 Parachute Regiment of the Indian Army and was about to join his new assignment at the LoC of Indo-Pak border.
