Bhubaneswar: The 11th Toshali National Crafts Fair 2016 which is scheduled to be held at Janata Maidan in city will commence from December 15. The fair is being organised by state’s Handloom, Textiles and Handicrafts department. It will continue till December 27.
Artisans, Weavers, Painters and Sculptors from all around the country will participate in the fair and showcase their contemporary and traditional handloom and handicrafts products.
This year the fair will accommodate 350 handicraft and handloom stalls. 100 artisans and 50 weavers from all around the country sponsored by Development Commissioner (DC) Handloom and (DC) Handicrafts Government of India while 140 artisans and 50 weavers from the state sponsored by DH and CI Odisha Directorate of Textiles and Handlooms will take part in the fair. Along with that 30 food stalls featuring multiple cuisine foodstuffs both from Odisha and outstate will be showcased by noted restaurants and hotels.
Some ATM counters will also be set up inside the fair ground for the ease of customers while looking at the demonetization issue.
Educational institutes like NIFT (Bhubaneswar), CET, SIDAC, ATDC, Indian Institute of Textiles, Cuttack along with governmental organizations like National Handloom Development Corporation, Textiles Committee will also set up stalls during the event
Cultural programmes will be organised every evening and audience will be able to enjoy performances of eminent artistes from all across the state. Events will be conducted in collaboration with Odisha Sangita Natak Academy. Besides, Bollywood singer Kavita Krishnamurthy, Amit Sana will also perform during the mela.
