Police arrested the gang of five looters on Tuesday. Two among them, identified as Govinda Jena of Khurda and Sunil Jena of Nayagarh, were produced before a court yesterday and sent to judicial custody.

According to sources, the police came across the highway robbery gang while investigating a case on the basis of a complaint lodged by one Sasmita of Baramunda on August 31.

In her complaint, Sasmita said she was heading to her in-laws’ house in Baramunda area when the looters stalked her and snatched gold ornaments from her purse in Khandagiri area. On the basis of the complaint, police launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.
