Bhubaneswar: Saheed Nagar police on Sunday arrested three persons in connection with opening fire on a youth last week at Basuaghai near Tankapani bridge area in Bhubaneswar.
The accused were identified as Chandan Kumar Mohapatra (25), Sujit Kumar Sthi (25), Solanki Sekhar Singh (25).
According to police, the youth identified as Sushanta Bhoi of Sisupalgarh area was brutally assaulted and shot by the arrested accused person last Sunday when he had been for fishing to Kuakhai river.
He was rescued and admitted to Capital hospital in critical condition where he is undergoing treatment.
Following the incident, his father Parsuram Bhoi lodged a complaint with Saheed Nagar police in this regard. On the basis of the plaint, police started an investigation and launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.
During investigation, it was revealed that the accused persons along with their associates assaulted Sushanta with sword and opened fire at him over past enmity.
Police today nabbed them while seizing two swords, one sharp weapon and two mobile phones.
A case has been registered under relevant Sections of the IPC and the trio will be forwarded to the court today, the police said, adding that further investigation is underway.
