Cuttack: Two girl students were rescued while another one went missing while taking bath in Taladanda canal in Cuttack here today. The rescued girls have been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital and a search is on to trace the missing one.
According to sources, the incident took place when the three minor students, all hailing from Chauliaganj area had gone to take bath in the canal after returning from the school.
While taking bath one of them slipped into deep water and was swept away in the strong currents. The two girl who in a bid to rescue their friend also went deep into the water.
Meanwhile, a person, who spotted the girls drowning, jumped into the water and managed to rescue two of them while another one went missing.
On being informed, two teams of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) reached the spot and carried a rescue operation to trace the missing girl. Reportedly, efforts are on to trace the girl.
