Bhubaneswar : The three-day annual children’s festival “Suravi organized by the School and Mass Education Department commenced from November 14, here at Unit-IX Boys High School in the city.
Inaugurating the ceremony, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said students are the future of the country. Apart from education, students should also be engaged in various other co-curricular activities.
Prior to the function, a cycle rally, inaugurated by School and Mass Education Minister, Debi Mishra was conducted from Forest Park
square to the school premises was conducted with more than 600 students from various schools across the state participating in it. Debi Mishra while addressing the ceremony said that there has been more girl participants this year and also laid importance on “ Beti Bachao , Beti Padhao”.
A number of contests on slogan writing, essay writing, poetry writing, dance, music are set to be conducted in these three days. Around 13 stalls have been put up in the school premises and a book exhibition is also organized.
Among others, Cultural and Tourism Minister, Ashok Chandra Panda, MP, Prasanna Pathsani, MLAs Vijay Mohanty and Priyadarshi Mishra, Mayor, Ananta Narayan Jena was also present. The programme was later followed by various cultural activities by the students.
