Three college students injured in lightning

Jagatsinghpur: Three Plus II students including two girls of Brundaban Chandra College at Redhua in Jagatsinghpur district were critically injured after they were hit by lightning strike on the college premises on Saturday.

The injured students, Aparna Sahu, Chandana Sahu and Nihar Ranjan Barik, were undergoing treatment at hospital.

According to sources, the students were on the college premises when rain accompanied by lightning lashed the area in the afternoon leaving them critically injured. The trio was first rushed to the district headquarters hospital in Jagatsinghpur.

Later, Nihar was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.

The electric wires and some computers were damaged under the impact of the lightning, sources said.
