Patna: In a big setback for RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family, the Income Tax (I-T) department has slapped charges against the RJD chief’s wife, daughter and son under Benami Transactions Act.
The charges have been slapped against Lalu Prasad’s wife Rabri Devi, daughter Misa Bharti and Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav.
The I-T department served attachment notice under the stringent act for assets worth over Rs 9 crore against the Lalu Prasad family.
On Monday, the Income Tax Department provisionally attached a few immovable properties in connection with its probe in the Rs 1,000 crore benami land deals and tax evasion case.
On May 16, the IT Department had launched searches at 22 places in and around Delhi in connection with alleged benami property deals involving the RJD chief and his children.
