Suspected murder of Odia girl in Kolkata, family seeks Odisha Govt’s intervention
Kolkata/Bhubaneswar: Mystery shrouds over death of a Odia girl, Rupali who was declared brought dead by the doctors after being taken to NRS Hospital in Kolkata on August 19.
As the case appears to be suspected murder, the helpless Odia family in the neighboring state pleads Odisha Chief Minister and government to intervene into the matter for a fair and unprejudiced probe in the case.
The incident took place under Phool Bagan police limits here triggering tension among the local residents when Rajalaxmi Das (16) aka Rupali, daughter of Kishore Ch Sahoo, a native of Odisha’s Kendrapara district, who was married to Manish Das of Kolkata, died under mysterious circumstances at in-laws house. The couple had a love marriage.
The family members of the deceased lodged a complaint with the Phool Bagan police accusing in-laws for plotting the murder as Rupali was frothing foam from mouth when they reached the spot after being informed that their daughter’s condition was critical. Meanwhile, the autopsy report also revealed that Rupali’s death was caused due to poisoning in an empty stomach.
Even as police has arrested three persons on charge of having connection in the alleged murder or abetting for suicide, some external forces are on the move to cover up the truth since then. As per the victim’s father, some local goons are frequently building pressure over them to accept a sum of Rs 2 lakh and withdraw the case in exchange.
“ Rs 2 lakh, is that the price of my daughter’s life”, asked the feeble father adding that some local politicians are even trying to free the murderers out of bars, but my fight for justice will continue, said he.
