Bhubaneswar: The Khurda SDJM court on Tuesday deferred the bail plea hearing of SUM Hospital owner Manoj Nayak till October 27 when the next hearing will be done.
Since the police could not furnish the case diary in due time, the court postponed the hearing and stayed it until October 27.
Till then the accused Nayak will be under the judicial custody at Jharpada jail.
Meanwhile, the death toll due to the fire mishap reached 27 on Monday with a patient at AMRI Hospital succumbing to death.
Following the horrific fire outbreak incident at SUM Hopital on October 17 evening which claimed 19 persons on the same day while so far eight others have also succumbed to burn injuries.
It led to state wide outcry over laxity in fire fighting and safety measures ensured within the hospital and consequently the owner who had to bear the brunt of this outrage had to succumb to mounting pressure and surrendered before the police.
