Bhubaneswar: Submission of affidavits on the tragic fire incident at SUM hospital concluded on Monday. The central range revenue divisional commissioner (RDC) confirmed that statements of witnesses will be recorded from November 28 to December 3.
Issuing a statement on the latest development, the RDC office said all the parties accused and involved in the fire mishap will be summoned to keep their views.
Out of 393 affidavits, 61 will be called for recording their statements including the autopsy doctors, DMET authorities, SUM officials, the CDMO, and some government officials will also be called during the recording of statements.
Notably, last month on 17th 19 persons died in an hour or two after being charred by a sever fire that broke out suddenly in the emergency dialysis ward of SUM hospital. Subsequently 11 others have also succumbed to their injuries in spite of rescue and treatment in several hospitals in city and outside.
The incident led to state wide public condolences and outcry against SUM authorities and health department. With the resignation of health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and arrest of SUM owner Manoj Nayak the CM had ordered an RDC level probe into the incident.
