Bhubaneswar: With the rising number of cyber crimes in the city, the Commissionerate police have urged the state government to set up cyber police stations in Twin City and soon in every district across the state.
Police sources said the tech savvy youth of the state are engrossed in Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp and other such apps. Many cases of email hacking, black mailing though porn photography have increased. As such there has been a long-standing demand for setting up of cyber crime police station in the twin city to deal with cyber-related offences.
Police commissioner Jogesh Bahadur Khurania said that they have asked the government to set up two cyber police stations operating at Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. He said that such police stations would definitely help to tackle the increasing trend of cyber crimes in the state.
The government in return has shown a clean chit has decided to initially convert all the energy police stations to cyber police stations in the city. The said police stations would be provided with new efficient appointees.
The proposed plan outlines the following recommendations:
- All the police stations in the Bhubaneswar would be remodeled at par with the police stations of Mumbai & Delhi.
- There would be provision of two cell at every PS – One for crime and the other for legal affairs.
- Every PS would have three number of inspectors including, Senior Police-in-charge who would be re-designated as Station House Officer(SHO), while two other inspectors at crime and legal affairs cell respectively.
- Each cell would be under the supervision of one SP and Additional DCP.
Khurania further said that the planning has been made keeping in view the ‘Vision-20’ mission and also as a measure to increase the efficiency of the police department towards fastening the process of investigation and providing justice to the people.
