Bhubaneswar: The second phase surgery of the conjoined twins Jaga-Kalia of Kandhamal district is unlikely to be concluded as per the schedule, informed Prof Ashok Mohapatra, Head of Neurosurgery Department, AIIMS.
The stage-II surgery of the conjoined twins was scheduled for mid October, but it is likely to be postponed due to acute shortage of blood.
Though health condition of the twins is stable, they are facing acute shortage of blood in their bodies following which the duo is undergoing blood transfusion at regular intervals, Mohapatra said.
“The stage-II surgery of the conjoined twins is unlikely to be conducted as per the schedule,” he said.
Notably, the first phase cranial separation surgery of the twins conducted at AIIMS in New Delhi on September 30 was successful.
