Mumbai: Sridevi’s death investigation has been closed, three days after her demise, the Dubai government said on Twitter as authorities finally released the Bollywood icon’s body to her family.

Sridevi’s family members were handed the letters for the release of her mortal remains this afternoon.

Quoting the Dubai Public Prosecution, the emirate’s media office said, “All regular procedures followed in such cases [as Sridevi’s death] have been completed.”

“As per the forensic report, the death of the Indian actress occurred due to accidental drowning following loss of consciousness,” the media office added. “The case has now been closed.”

Following the completion of a “comprehensive investigation” into the circumstances of Sridevi’s death, her body has now been approved for release, the media office added in another tweet.

Sridevi’s body is being flown back to India and the flight is expected to reach Mumbai by 10pm.

Tonight, Sridevi’s body will be kept at her Green Acres home in Andheri, Mumbai, from where it will be taken to the nearby Celebration Sports Club tomorrow. Her fans can pay their tribute to the superstar from 8.30am tomorrow.
