Social media post sparks row in Kendrapara; Internet cutoff for 48 hours, 5 platoons force deployed


Bhubaneswar: In a bid to avoid communal unrest like riot-hit Bhadrak which had flared-up due to a similar objectionable post on social media indicating to a particular community, internet connectivity to Kendrapra distict has been blocked today for 48 hours.

The row sparked in Kendrapara town following an offensive post on social media made over prayer of a particular religion.

The internet services in Kendrapara have been blocked for 48 hours from 3 pm today following the advisory from Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). In view of the tension gripped Kendrapara town, five platoons of police force have been deployed to maintain law and order situation.

According to sources, a communal gathering at Fakirabad agitated over the incident and demanded early arrest of the persons involved in the derogatory post.

On being informed, Kendrapara SP and other officials of the district administration rushed the spot and pacified the irate mob and assured them of strict action against the wrongdoers.
