New Delhi: In view of the heavy smog across the national capital, around 1,800 primary schools running under the three municipal corporations have been ordered to shut down on Saturday. As a result about 9 lakh students are affected sources said. The national capital is facing the worst smog since 17 years.
On Saturday, around 9am, the Particulate Matter (PM) was over 1,200 microgram per cubic meter compared to a safe level of 100. PM 2.5 levels increased 13 times from safe level. These particles can cause respiratory diseases for city residents.
The highest ever pollution on Diwali in the city this year has increased the smog conditions making it the worse ever smog for the city.
