Skipper Poddar’s double century helps Odisha take lead


Bhubaneswar: Odisha skipper Govinda Poddar hit his first double century in Ranji Trophy today on the third day of the ongoing match against Assam in Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Thanks to his brilliant knock Odisha has taken lead in the match. The team was at 359/4 till tea break.

Poddar is on a dreamy knock with 21 fours and two sixes. With seasoned cricketer Biplab Samantray giving just the right support from the other end, Odisha has already garnered a lead of 58 runs till news last came in. The team is at 359/4 right now.

Poddar and last match’s century-maker Subhransu Senapati started the day at 150 for 2. Earlier, Assam managed to score 301 runs with a fluent first class century from wicketkeeper Kunal Saikia who made 135 and was the last man to get out in the innings
