Bhopal: In a ground breaking revelation, on the backdrop of recent encounter incident of escaping SIMI terrorists in Bhopal former Madhya Pradesh IG (Prisons), G.K. Agarwal said he had warned the State Government about the vulnerabilities, poor security, and deplorable staff condition of jail as questions have been raised over city central jail infra and administration’s efficacy.
The official said he had felt the laxity in jail security since 2014 and so made the authorities aware of the issue but his warnings were turned deaf ear.
In 2014, January 26, he had written a letter to the then state chief secretary. The letter had been forwarded to the jail administration at that time.
Apart from that he also warned the Intelligence Bureau and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval . He had sent the letter a few months after the jailbreak in Khandwa in 2013, when 6 SIMI terrorists escaped.
He said that he also sought a meeting with authorities on how to prevent such incidents from occurring Bhopal and other jails, but received no response.
