Bhubaneswar: Police on Tuesday arrested two brothers for allegedly beating a 25-year-old youth to death near Bahadalpur village under Khandagiri police limits on Sunday.
The accused, identified as Sanjay Sahu and Samir Sahu, were arrested for the murder of Jyotiranjan Baliarsingh.
According to sources, Jyotiranjan was killed near Bahadalpur on Sunday night. Suspecting foul play, the family members of the deceased had lodged a complaint with police in this regard. During the probe, the police learnt about the involvement of the two brothers in the murder and nabbed them.
The Airfield police registered a case in this regard. The accused will be produced before a court, a police official said.
According to police, Jyotiranjan and his two friends had a heated argument with a youth who was returning home with his mother on a motorcycle on Sunday night. Following which the youth called some villagers to settle the argument. Later, Jyotiranjan’s friends apologized and left the place. But he continued to argue with the villagers. The argument took an ugly turn when Jyotiranjan beaten up severely leading to his death.
