Konark: In a major crackdown against sex trade, police on Saturday rescued seven girls and detained nine youths after conducting raids at different hotels and lodges at Konark in Puri district.
Out of the seven rescued girls, two hail from West Bengal. According to prima facie, it appears that the hotel owners were responsible for the flesh trade and imported girls from out of state to lure customers, said a police official.
A 15-mamber police team carried simultaneous raids after getting specific information that flesh trade was going on at various hotels and lodges in Konark.
Investigation is underway to trace out the links of other people associated with the sex trade racket.
