New Delhi: In a major setback to Odisha, the special tribunal on Vansadhara water dispute today allowed the government of Andhra Pradesh to carry on with construction work of two barrages on the controversial river near Katragada and Naredi.
The two projects were stalled after Odisha had raised an objection with the tribunal.
According to the verdict of the tribunal which came after seven years, Naredi got a clean chit for the continuation of construction but set certain conditions for Katragada barrage.
The tribunal also directed the setting up of a four-member regulatory body to ensure that the order passed by the tribunal is fully observed.
Two officials from Central Water Commission (CWC) and two representatives, one each from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, will be in the four-member committee.
