New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday sought a reply from the Odisha Government over payment of salaries to Block Grant (BG) teachers in the State.
In its notice, the apex court has asked the state government as to why the BG teachers would not be given full salary at par with government college teachers. The court served the notice in response to the petitions filed by BG teachers.
The next hearing in the court on the matter is scheduled for October 27.
Notably, the State Government on September 2 had abolished the Block Grant system and replaced it with the Grant-in-Aid system following a 17-day dharna by the BG teachers at Gandhi Marg in the State capital.
