Sambalpur: Former Bhubaneswar DCP, IPS officer Satyabrata Bhoi, took charge as new DIG of Northern Range on Wednesday.
Bhoi, who was promoted to the rank of deputy inspector-general (DIG) recently, took charge in the presence of several senior police officials.
“I was here for eight months during my probation period and had begun my profession from here. Having many sweet memories I am happy to serve as the DIG now,” said Bhoi, a 2004 batch IPS officer.
“Sambalpur Range is a big yet prestigious range. Lot of challenges including Maoist problem are there. However, all the Superintendents of Police (SPs) of five districts coming under this range are very capable. I hope with the support of everyone we will be able to face every challenge successfully and do well,” he added.
Bhoi was the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Bhubaneswar since September 2014. He was the SP of Jagatsinghpur before taking over as Bhubaneswar DCP.
