Bhubaneswar: The Samjajpur bridge on Puri Bhubaneswar National Highway is to be repaired yet again after the geo bags supporting it were burnt recently.
A team from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and also Works Departement secretary Nalinikant Pradhan visited the site where the geo bags were burnt two days ago. Burning the geo bags has weakened the bridge and it has been shut for vehicular movement.
“We have begun its review and accordingly NHAI will be conducting the repairs,” said Pradhan.
This is the fourth time in two years since Nabakalebara, when the overbridge was built for the event to make connectivity between Bhubaneswar and Puri faster, that the bridge will be repaired. Incomplete work and faulty design have made it risky for commuters on the highway.
