Sambalpur: A day after BJP registered a thumping win in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Assembly elections, party senior leader Sameer Mohanty was attacked by his own party activists and suatained injuries on his face here on Sunday.
As per reports, the incident took place inside the party office during the process of nomination for the Zilla Parishad Chairpersons when some party workers allegedly attacked and threw bottles inside the office. Mohanty was appointed as party observer for Sambalpur zone.
Meanwhile, while speaking to the media, Mohanty described the incident as an internal matter of the party. He said that the incident resulted for the reason of some workers wanting for a particular person to be named the Zilla Parishad chairperson candidate.
Party Spokesperson Sajjan Sharma clarified that the incident is not an intra-party fighting. However, he said that appropriate action would be taken after investigation.
