Sambalpur: A Junior Clerk of Tehsil office in Sambalpur district was arrested red-handed on Friday by Vigilance sleuths while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a person to process his property partition deed.
The arrested Clerk has been identified as Prafulla Kumar Sahu.
According to Vigilance source, Sahu had demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 amount from complainant Ikrar Hussain to do to process his property partition deed. Later, the deal was settled at Rs 4,000 after Hussain expressed his inability to arrange the money.
Hussain met Sambalpur Vigilance SP Swarup Kumar Parida yesterday to lodge a complaint following which a trap was laid accordingly by the anti-corruption bureau officials.
A team of Vigilance sleuths arrested the Clerk while accepting the bribe in front of a betel shop located beside the Tehsil office this afternoon.
