Angul: Royal Bengal tigress ‘Sundari’ continues to unleash terror in nearby villages of Satkosia Wildlife Sanctuary in Angul district, killing a cow and a calf on Friday.
The two-year-old royal cat brought to Satkosia from Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh allegedly strayed into Bipradhia village in Dhandatopa range of Athmallik forest division today evening and killed the cow and its calf.
Following the incident, tension erupted at the village. The local ranger and police personnel rushed to the village to pacify the angry locals.
Notably, the Royal Bengal tigress had allegedly mauled a woman to death at Hatibari village on September 12, triggering violent protests by locals.
The irate villagers had torched the Hatibari Forest Beat House and the Tikarpada Forest Range Office.
Meanwhile, the forest department has initiated the process to send back the big cat to Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh.
