Bhubaneswar: A rock garden has been proposed to be built in the premises of Utkal University here, by a unit of Aditya Birla Group, The Essel Mining and Industries Limited (EMIL).
As per sources, the proposed Rock Garden, would be created Geology Department of the University and is designed to be one of the best open geological laboratories in the country. It would also help to enhance the teaching standards and research purposes.
Utkal University Vice Chancellor Ashok Kumar Das and EMIL India Mining Operation Chief Executive Officer Ashok Kumar Bal, CEO, India Mining Operation, EMIL laid foundation stone for the proposed garden on Saturday.
While speaking on the occasion, the vice chancellor of the University thanked EMIL for its contribution to develop the project that would take the teaching to a new level.
The CEO of EMIL said the company would continue its support in the field of socio-academic development of the state.
However, the project has been planned to be completed in three months duration.
Among others, senior officials from EMIL, faculty members and students of the University were present on the occasion.
