Rishi death case: HC directs Twin City police to submit case diary within 2 weeks


Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Monday directed the Twin City Commissionerate of police to submit the Case Diary of pertaining to mysterious death case of engineering student Asutosh Mohanty alias Rishi in a hostel in Bhubaneswar in May, 2016.

The case made rounds across the state following allegations of involvement of BJD leader and BMC Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena behind the death of Rishi.

His death had also created spill in the political atmosphere.  His death case was for the second time investigated during September last year. Around eight months after his death incident, there came an turmoil in the state’s political scenario as a sex video allegedly featuring senior BJD leader and Mayor of the capital city, Anant Narayan Jena went viral on the internet.

Alleging gross inaction by the police, a friend of Rishi, Anurag Mohapatra, had urged the High Court to order for either CBI or Crime Branch probe into the matter as a high-profile ruling party leader was involved in it.

Taking up Anurag’s petition, Justice BK Nayak ordered the Commissionerate police to submit the Case Diary of the case in the High Court within two weeks.
