Bhubaneswar: Sprinter Dutee Chand of Odisha on Saturday heaved a sigh of relief after the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) suspended the International Association of Athletic Federation’s (IAAF) regulation for hyper androgen in female athletes till September.
She can now participate in all major championships for another two months.
The CAS suspended the IAAF regulation and asked the apex athletics body to gather scientific evidence that high levels of hyper androgen in female athletes boost their performance and give them an edge over others. The court has given the IAAF two months for the evidence.
Recently, Dutee faced a huge jolt after the IAAF decided to reopen the super androgen (gender) case of women athletes. The IAAF has decided to submit fresh evidence at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in Switzerland barring women athletes, who produced natural testosterone (male hormones) above permissible range, from taking part in competitions.
